Black Flies are out there in full force for most places.  Skeeter s are still holding off. Folks are slowly coming in to open up their cottages for the summer.  Lots of cars and campers with boats going by so that is a sign of what’s to come.   Have a great day my friends.

Well the old black flies are officially back with us for another season.  Should last for around three or four weeks if things goes to plan.  Then again, Mother Nature has her own set of rules and being the lady she is, she changes her mind every so often..  So all we can do is take what she hands us, an smile.  The mosquito’s are still holding off, but once it warms up, they will awaken and add their presence to our days through out the summer.  Well tea time here and will get to doing some shop work for a change, been enjoying the sunshine for the past few days. News For Port Loring
The black flies are out there now, started yesterday,but still not really bothering a feller or gal, other than flying around ones head.  But they will get hungry soon enough.   I find the best way to help the situation is to not wear any perfume or deodorant, things like that.  I only wash using ivory hand soap, with no additives.  For some reason they don’t like it and I have had good luck keeping them at bay for a lot of years now.  Deet, insect repellents. don’t work, if anything it attracts them and makes it worse.  Also it sure isn’t good for ones health.  Have a great day my friends.

Kentucky Derby Won By I’ll Have Another

Canadian-owned I’ll Have Another was the surprise winner of the 138th running of the Kentucky Derby on Saturday at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky.  Goes to show ya we do have a few good horses here in Canada.  Great day for sure. Mexican jockey Mario Gutierrez, who plied his trade at Vancouver’s Hastings Racecourse after moving north from Veracruz, guided the three-year-old colt owned by Paul Reddam of Windsor, Ont., to an official winning time of two minutes 1.83 seconds around the 1 1/4-mile track.
